Life Care Wellness Professional Course: Assessing Substance Abuse and Treatment Planning Options

Assessing Substance Abuse and Treatment Planning Options

Course Description (One CE is awarded for these professions.)

Addiction is often a co-occurring disorder with other mental health disorders. Despite what your clinical background may be, at some point, all clinicians find themselves faced with having to assess for Substance Use Disorder (SUD). However, the process can often lead to misdiagnosis due to a client’s denial, shame and/or fear of stigma. Many clinicians feel confused about how to assess for SUD or how to make proper recommendations. If you are looking to improve your SUD assessment skills, this 1 hour webinar is for you. This webinar is a beginning level course intended for clinicians without a background in addictions.

Topics Covered:

DSV IV-TR VS DSM 5 criteria
Specific question suggestions for assessment
DUI Basics

How to use ASAM to make appropriate treatment recommendations
